Too hot to handle and some Random blog vomit

Unless you are really deep under a rock, you know it has been super duper hot in the ole C-L-E.  I have been keeping up with my #C25K workouts (week 5, w00t!) despite the heat.  I have since invested in a hand-held water bottle (one 10 oz and a 22 oz) which I plan to try out this weekend when I hit the towpath again.

I have also started to cut my old exercise pants into shorts - it is hot, and I do not have enough shorts that are the proper length (Read:  long enough so my crotch does not eat them, and short enough to be shorts) Which also means I get to purchase some new workout pants this fall - so it is a win win all around.  And did I mention it is HOT!  Momma really needed some shorts.

Have a mentioned how much I love the Towpath?

I want to run this floating path.
I headed out a couple weekends ago on the Harvard/Cleveland Metroparks trail for a nice change of pace and ended up running just shy of 4 miles of the path.  I was fairly familiar with this section as I ran the Towpath 5-Miler in April this is where it took place.  The following Saturday, I woke up early and headed out to Brecksville Reservation for the 2012 Annual Psoriasis Walk.  It was a small event, and the trail was not marked (no sign of where to turn around, etc) - but they had some great sponsors, refreshments before and after and the weather was beautiful!

I missed the nonexistent turnaround for the Psoriasis 5k, so I ended up at about 4 miles walking.  As I said, it was a beautiful day to spend outdoors, and you really could not beat the scenery!  After heading back to the car, I traded my tee for a tank, grabbed my water and headed back out north on the towpath for a little run. It is a flat, but sunny trail - so I kept up a pretty good pace, and even got to see the nesting Bald Eagles - which is always pretty cool.  I made the mistake of not turning around at my half way point, and ended up with another 4 miles.

8 miles total! BIG DAY! I have not logged that many miles on foot in one day prior to 6/23.  I realize I walked half of those miles, but just knowing I could do it made me feel pretty accomplished. I was drained, and headed back home to shower, and put my feet up for a couple hours.  Anyhow - I am happy to have found the towpath, and absolutely cannot wait to spend some time there this weekend.  I am thinking a nice long bike ride is in order tomorrow, and a run Saturday AM.

I had a lazy week this week - I started a workout program a couple weeks ago, but the last two weeks have not been very successful.  I am chalking it up to the holiday and getting back on the wagon tomorrow AM (possibly tonight if J doesn't want to go to the movies - and really, if he doesn't want to see Magic Mike - than I have no interest in going to the movies today).

The 4th was pretty non-eventful.  We ended up cooking out the night before with our cousins, and after some pre-4th libations, dancing and lots of laughing we made it home just after 4. A. M.  (Have i mentioned I am WAYYY to old to be staying up that late?!).  Needless to say, we were all funned out by 11:00AM when we finally rolled out of bed yesterday.  We were successful in our plan to stay inside in the AC, and relax all day - pepper that with a little cat nap, some 50 Shades of kinky fuckery Grey, a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies, hillbilly hotdogs, lite fireworks, Independence Day and some DQ for dessert - making it an almost perfect day.

Side note:  I am starting a petition to have all Wednesday's off of work.

That is all.
