Summer Solstice

Way back when, I went through a phase of researching the Pagans, most specifically Wicca.  My mother had a major shit hemorrhage along with great concern that she was going to get a call from the police about me frolicking/dancing/what-have-you naked in the woods with other "witches."  And that was the end of that.

I remember reading of the Summer Solstice as one of the lower holidays celebrating the harvest - or new growth.  It was a time to leave their robes, and bask in the sun.  A time to don floral head bands, and celebrate well into the night.

"For many of the ancients, the summer solstice wasn't just an excuse to party or pray—it was essential to their well-being.  Associated with agriculture, the summer solstice was a reminder that a turning point in the growing season had been reached."

New growth... essential for well-being.... turning point...

Interesting.

What a perfect day to renew my sense of well-being.  To review and renew my goals for myself.

And if I lived in Latvia - a perfect day to go for a run!

How are you celebrating the Summer Solstice?

my sister is more into wicca than me, but I am a great lover of all things new age!! as with most great changes, new moons, full moons...I try to do something important. I am doing a well being "spell" tonight, which is just a prayer.

If your body is a temple, mine must be a mansion! said...

I hope your spell brings you well being!
