With this also comes 31 posts for the next 31 days. A challenge for me, but really, is there ever a better time than before New Year's to really look at the year past, and plan for the year ahead?
What is one word to describe your 2011? Why does that word sum up your year?
One word to describe my 2011 would have to be...
ACTIVE
You see, 2010, I officially started my weightloss journey, and really concentrated on calories/points/basically what I was putting into my mouth. I focused on moderation with my food intake as a means to lose about 30 lbs. 2011 was the year that I started incorporating weekly exercise into my personal journey. This is the year that I got moving, seriously. While I was walking semiconsistently while the weather was nice, once the snow hit the ground, I wanted to go into hibernation. Luckily, John surprised me with Wii Active 2 to add to my exercise schedule (for those long cold, wintery Jan/Feb days). This got me through until the weather broke, and I could get back outside for some nice Spring walks.
This year I also had two firsts which I not only L.O.V.E. but I am proud to brag talk about.
1. I got back on a bike after about 15 years. And now that I have my lovely helmet (which I swore I would never wear, but really, who needs vanity when your soaring down a trail on two wheels! Oh, and safety first.) My bike is not hung upside down in my garage for the winter, but I CAN NOT wait to pull it out once Spring gets back here.
2. I am hesitant to write this out loud - but in 2011, I became a runner. I know right?! Can you even believe it..... The girl who used to proclaim (loudly) "I only run if I'm being chased" **Special Thanks to Brad Gansberg and his #5kin100days program (seriously, check him out - he is awesome!). In a total effort to sound cheesy, he may have just changed my life. I am happy to say I am preparing for my very first 5k on Saturday. OK, well it is not by first 5k, but the first one that I am going to run. It is very exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time. (I see a blog post about this in the near future).
In addition to my activity level soaring (as compared to 2010) - My husband and I tend to be very busy people. And although this year seemed a tad tamer than most, we were very active with our friends and families throughout the year. We are blessed in that we never have a weekend go by that we don't see either our families or friends. So while we may complain a bit talk about being super busy throughout the year, we wouldn't trade any of that activity for the world!
So there it is, my 2011 in one word. Go me!

What a great word to choose!
I'm glad you found success with Brad's program. I'm considering signing up for it in the spring.
I highly recommend Brad's program. I can't even believe that I can run what I can - especially when I look back at where I started. He is flexible and a great "cheerleader" for everyone in the group.
