I just might be INSANE!

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.Albert Einstein
Coming off the high of yesterdays post, I decided that today I would make some changes. Obviously, what was getting me results and keeping me motivated last year is not working for me this year.  I needed something new, something to help bring me back to where I need to be.  I made the decision to try Weight Watchers again.  Now that they have an online program, and have finally made the jump to a Chrome compatible site - I figured WTH.  Tomorrow is the last day to get the sign-up fee waived, so I just made it in for a 3 month membership, or trial, if you will.

Many of you know, they have a new points program, Points Plus, along with an iphone app that takes the place of the paper and pencil tracker of the olden days.  The hardest adjustment for me is going to be going from calorie counting to points.  It is obviously too early to tell how comparable the foods are point-wise vs. calorie-wise, but I like that my fruit and veggie snacks are freebies.  Right now, I have 29 points per day, with 49 extra points per week.  Today, I have eaten 4 points, and exercised off 2.  Good start, if I must say so myself!  A full review will have to come after about a month of the trial - so stay tuned.

I also tried out my Wii Active 2 that my loving husband bought me.  I am starting a three week intro program (so as not to kill myself with overdoing it at first).  I was brave and entered the moderate program (scale was easy, moderate, hard).  I really thought I would be challenged a bit more - but it is a good starting point.  the Active 2 comes with a leg motion sensor, and an arm sensor/heart rate monitor.  To test the accuracy of the Active HRM, I also wore my Polar HRM .  While my heart rate on both seemed to stay consistently the same (a plus!), the calories burned were very far apart.  My Polar read that I burned around 250 calories for the session, while the Active reported 98.2 calories.  That is a big difference.  I am not sure how to tell which is more accurate, but my brain tells me that my Polar is what I will go by - if even for the motivation of the larger number.

Tomorrow, a new day with my new points system, and I do feel a major Wii Dance 2 session coming up!  Feeling good, feeling fresh and ready to tackle these coming weeks.  I am confident these changes will continue to help me in my struggle.  I had to make these changes...

Well, it was that, or run the risk of doing the same thing and going insane!
