OK, I guess I waited long enough...

Holy crap! How in the world did a month go by and I have neglected to write one word on this page of mine?  (In my defense, I have been weekly blogging over here - in case you want to check it out!)

Since writing about the entire month would be, well, just very daunting - I am going to start with Wednesday, February 16th as it was just an all around good day!  It's been a while since I've been able to call out a day as good.  Not to say my days are bad, but they are just in general alright.  Alittle recap so you can see what I mean...

  • The weather was damn near close to 60 degrees out (yes, in Feb!) and I got to head out on my first outdoor walk since fall.  Logged 2 miles that day - 5 for the week.
  • I discovered Pandora radio app on my phone.  I have had it installed since I got my first iphone, and have not used it until that day.  I fell in love!
  • After a great walk, I headed to my fave sushi place, and became the mayor! (you would understand what this means if you knew how hard I have been trying!).
  • After picking up my deelish lunch, I had to get gas and found a lucky penny!  Normally I don't believe in that crap, but that day was going so well, I decided to try my luck and pick it up.
  • Got back to work, and I felt good.  I mean really good.  The afternoon blew past and the best part was coming home to tell the hubs that I had a good day!
Again, it is hard to explain I guess, but the overall feeling of the day was just good.  (did you get that yet? It was good!)  Hoping for many more days like this to come in 2011 and on!

Being able to get out, listen to my music and just think really centered me to start thinking about my goals for the year - mostly health-wise.  I am halfway to my goal of 165lbs. and really need to start putting in that effort to get the rest of the way.  Sure, I have the Biggest Loser Competition, and plan to keep that going for the year, but that is only one aspect of the entire package that I need to put together for myself.  That keeps me accountable, and also helps with the encouragement - but I really need to work on my will power and sticking to the my goals to make this work.

I have all of the tools I can possibly need to reach my goals, but now comes to time to put them all together and start making some progress.  Last year, my Polar Heart Rate monitor really helped with motivating me to get out and move.  I recently began wearing a pedometer, as it is sick how little steps I take throughout the day, and I am working to increase that little by little.  I also purchased Just Dance 2 for Wii that is still sitting in the package on top of the TV.  and I just got my new Moleskine Wellness Journal, and have been logging my activity throughout the day, as well as any goals and thoughts.  Not to mention the access to all of my workouts online, and through the TV that I could be doing when the snow decides to keep me from being outdoors.

There is no time like now.

Just finished reading The Flex Diet by James Beckerman, MD.  And while we all know that I do not like to refer to anything as a diet, the book caught my eye because it says it offers up to 200 ways, excuse me, Solutions, to lose 20 pounds.  I figured what the heck, why not check it out - maybe there's some new info in here that I have not read in the 200 other diet/health/self help books I have read over the past two years.  Not so much...  well, in a way...  The book is centered around Solutions (things you may or may not have heard of) that can help you in your effort to take off the pounds.  He delves into each Solution, and gives you time frames to use to incorporate them into your routine.  It was a good read, a good reminder and a good learning tool.  I recommend it if your in the business of losing weight!

Well, now that you are all caught up (alittle, anyhow)... I must get going to un-decorate my house from the holidays.  And by holidays, I mean Christmas.  Yes, I am late to the party on that one... which is why it is time to step away and get moving before cooking up one of the hubs favorite meals after a long day in the snow.

Until next time - and let's just hope it is not another month long hiatus!
*Fingers crossed!*
