I recently came across this blog on the interwebs, and have been obsessed with his posts since!
Tyler lost 150 lbs in just over about 15 months by counting calories, and moving. He started at 344 lbs in Jan of 2009. Please check out his story, it is truly amazing, andmotivating! He and I share many beliefs, starting with the calorie counting in place of points, or carbs. (this is MY way, and we all have to do what we find works - I chose to count calories). And most importantly - the moving! What do I always say... All it takes is to put one foot in front of the other and just get started. Well, that is basically what he did. Again, check him out - he did not use anything fancy - or expensive... he just did it!
Imagine my surprise when I saw his post today about eating what you want. See, when people ask me how I have lost weight, what have I done? They always seem amazed when I tell them that I watch what I eat (as I order a plate of <>). I than have to explain that plain and simple, calories in equal calories out, and while I try to choose healthy, natural foods about 80 percent of the time, I will not deprive myself of the stuff I love which includes processed, fried, or marinated in butter items.
He states that:
And I could not agree more! Just because I am making lifestyle changes, should not mean I have to give up my social life, and dinner/lunch with friends!
While I am not going to hit the buffet with reckless abandon any time soon, I still believe in eating what I love. And this is where the calories and moderation come in with a side of movement!
It might not feel as easy as it sounds, but once you start - you will see results. And the key is sticking to it - without complete deprivation.
Try it, and let me know how it works for you... I know it works for me, as evidenced by my 30 lbs lost last year. Onto start my small goal of 10 more by March 4th.
Whats your goal?
