Changes, Challenges and Interesting Discoveries

For my readers that have been with me since I started this blog, you may have noticed I changed it up a bit over the past two weeks.  I felt it only fitting to start to transform my space into something that reflects what I write about, and where I am am going.  Hence, new layout, new headline, and updated information on yours truly!

This Sunday marks the first day of The Kick My Ass Challenge courtesy of a great gal with similar goals as myself, that I found through twitter.  This challenge lasts 14 weeks, and is just the added motivation I need to get my butt and head in gear for the coming summer months.  She has been great enough to open the challenge up for anyone who wanted to join - and I answered that call.  I am a sucker for a challenge!  My goals for the 14 weeks include exercising atleast 4 times a week, as well as fresh foods in the diet (and by diet I mean the true sense of the word - not that horrible four letter word that I despise!).

Anyhow, the KMASC Challenge has a good group of people (are we all ladies?), and I can already feel the support and motivation that the interaction brings!  I really think that together, we can help one another go anywhere!  A bit dramatic I know, but hey, that's me.

It jsut so happens that The Rodes Family Biggest Loser is gearing up for its fifth round starting next week.  We have some new faces that I think may bring some fresh competition to the core group.  My goals are pretty much the same, with an ultimate end goal of 20lbs lost by the end.  I have been staying consistent for the past couple of weeks, and really need to jumpstart my body.  With my upcoming trip to NY, it was very easy to go with the thinking that I should just really start up when I get back.  See how easy it is for the mind to start to make excuses before the body even has time to act?!  Is this just me?  I nipped that in the bud and started Wednesday night with a full body (easy, HA!) workout.  Despite the discomfort in my thighs and hips - I pushed through today and am feeling better for it already! Watch out BL - I'm coming full steam ahead, and plan on staying that way throughout.

Yes, J and I finally moved the coffee table out of the way, and BOTH completed the first workout of his NFL Training Camp for Wii.  In the course of this one workout, I learned that I really pushed myself to the limit while working out in front of him for the first time ever.  I am not sure if I was trying to show off or make sure I kept up with him, but it is one workout that I can say without any doubt that I did 110%!  I also learned that he really wants to focus on his upper body and stomach areas, whereas, I need a good full body workout atleast 2x a week.  This does not work well with our plan to work out together all week.  We will for sure have to figure something out - as I really think I can motivate him and help him get more active - and clearly, he pushes me without even knowing it.

Today I squeezed in a 16 minute full body (easy mode) on my Active 2.  I probably coud've done my custom add-on workout, but really felt that I shouldn't push it.  After all, this is the 2nd day back at it after a good 3 week break.   I have another workout scheduled for tomorrow.  Go me!

Lot of exciting things coming in with the warmer weather....

It's good to be back, baby!

I also use the EA Active 2! I am in my 8th week of the 9 week program on medium. It's been tough! There are times that I really struggle getting through it. My hubby just started this program 3 nights ago. I am really excitd that he is doing it now too. What did you think of the NFL training one? I have never seen that before, and it might be something he would like more than the Active 2.

Oh your good - I am starting my 2nd round of the 3 week jumpstart on easy to ease back into it. After that I am going to try the 9 weeker. The NFL Training camp is very similar exercise wise, but a different feel. It is more "manly" I guess? You get to pick your team, workout on the fields of your home stadium and your trainer is one of the players. I enjoy the serene island on Active, but John for sure loves the football tie in for himself. If that makes sense? (oh, and on NFL you can unlock different team logos, jerseys, and other gear to wear while you workout, giving it more of a game feel).

Core training works the muscles that hold you upright. These include all the muscles around your torso. Although experts disagree as to which specific muscles make up the core, many include everything from your tummy to your back, hips, and rear-end. These muscles are your body’s powerhouse of strength.
