What are you doing?

Do you Twitter?

Me, well, let's just say I have a sick obsession with new technological "toys" or programs. I signed up, and started a "tweet", and very soon realized that there is no one to follow my "tweets." So I can say I have tried it, but until people that I know catch on (friends and family, as who wants to follow the depths of detail on their colleagues when they are with them everyday? Truly?) , I am not that sure I will have anything that really keeps me with it.

(That means click and read... )

I related to the article from the Washington Post as it seems that myself and the author share similar beliefs on Twitter... perhaps I can get him to follow my "tweets"? (That somehow sounds a tad vulgar, no?) He brings up a great point about our attention spans as well... since we have moved from lengthy emails, to text messages and Twitter, will we soon start to communicate verbally in short hand, and will we no longer find comfort or knowledge in a book, or article that is less than 140-160 characters? I don't think texts and Twitter are going to wipe out the entire world of libraries, news stands, and book stores - but will the future generations understand the importance of these sources?

While I try to keep a hand in all of it, I am finding that the as each year passes, I am not as young as I like to think! Although, I do find that I am not alone in the world of trying to keep up with Myspace, Facebook, Xanga, IM, and text messages.... let alone Twitter! Perhaps more of my family and friends will catch on, and I can continue my quest in keeping up with the "technological Jones's" - until than, I will sit quietly, and you won't hear a "tweet" out of me!
