So far, my new favorite writers are Chelsea Handler and Amanda Boyden. While both are very similar in their writing style and genre (chick lit), both are very unique in their own ways.
Chelsea Handler's look back at her own life is raw and real. She really draws you in with her wit and insight into her mistakes and triumphs. Who doesn't want to be Chelsea Handler?! She is fabulous in her own right, and her quirky, forward attitude makes me want to stalk her into penning her next novel.
Both of Amanda Boyden's books were very different - but both left me wanting more. Pretty Little Dirty was her freshman novel, and her descriptive writing commands your attention and pulls you into the world of Celeste and Lisa - the stories main characters. Babylon Rolling is a grown up version of Boyden's writing - while still keeping the descriptive element. She really makes you believe you are a part of the story, and her characters are hard to forget. I look forward to reading more from Amanda Boyden...
Holy Hell! I can't believe it has taken me a few years to realize that I can indulge my sick obsession with Hurricane Katrina through the many books that have been written - be it first hand accounts of the storm, or commentary on the response to the storm (muuwauhahahahaha! ensue evil laugh as my obsession grows!!!) I say, Bring It ON!!!
